After it's complete, you can simply ignore B and let it hum, operating on A as a primary source and B as a storehouse. Once you configure B, depending on how much content and the speed of your network, go have a coffee or maybe a long weekend while the sync takes place (9TB takes about 3 days over a 1Gb cable).
